Welcome to Kiai. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use the Kiai Android application ("the App"). By using Kiai, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
2. Information We Collect
To provide its core features, Kiai may collect and store the following types of data:
- Habit data – habits you create, completion logs, streaks, and notes.
- Fitness data – workouts, exercise logs, goals, and progress records you enter.
- Nutrition data – meals, calorie counts, and macro information you log.
- Body metrics – weight entries and progress toward your weight-loss goals.
- Water intake data – daily hydration logs and goal settings.
- Sleep data – sleep duration and pattern information you record.
- App preferences – theme, notification settings, and other in-app configurations.
- Account information – name, email address, and profile picture provided by Google Sign-In when you choose to sign in with your Google account.
We do not collect sensitive data such as precise location, payment information, contacts, or any data unrelated to habit and fitness tracking.
3. How We Use Your Information
All data collected is used exclusively for the following purposes:
- Displaying your habits, fitness logs, and progress within the App.
- Syncing data across your devices (if cloud sync is enabled).
- Sending reminders and notifications you have opted into.
- Enabling social features such as friend activity feeds and shared achievements.
- Allowing coaches to view the progress of clients who have explicitly granted access.
- Improving app stability through anonymous crash and diagnostic reports.
Your data is never used for advertising, sold to third parties, or shared with anyone outside of what is strictly necessary for the App's functionality.
4. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored locally on your device and, where applicable, in a secure cloud database accessible only by your account. We apply industry-standard security measures — including encryption in transit (TLS) and access controls — to protect your information.
No security system is infallible. In the unlikely event of a data breach that affects your personal data, we will notify you as required by applicable law.
5. Third-Party Services
Kiai uses Google Sign-In for authentication. When you sign in with Google, Google shares your name, email address, and profile picture with us. This data is used solely to identify your account within the App. Google's use of your information is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties, with the following limited exceptions:
- Service providers – trusted infrastructure providers (e.g., Google for authentication, cloud hosting, crash reporting) that process data on our behalf under strict confidentiality agreements.
- Coaches – if you are a client, your coach can see data you explicitly share with them through the App.
- Friends – activity summaries and achievements visible to friends you have added within the App.
- Legal obligations – if required to comply with applicable law or a valid legal process.
7. Data Retention
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the App's services. You can delete your data at any time from within the App's settings. Upon account deletion, all associated data is permanently removed from our servers within 30 days.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your data.
- Export your data in a portable format.
- Withdraw consent for optional data processing at any time.

9. Children's Privacy
Kiai is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be revised. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
